Roman gods

While I don't know much about mythology, I think it would be interesting to find out more about the Roman gods and which ones were the most popular. All I really know is that Athena is the goddess of wisdom and that Zeus is one of most famous gods. I think it would also be interesting to find out how people came up with names for the Roman gods.

  1. The names for the Roman Gods were taken from the Greek names, Zeus and Athena are the Greek gods and their Roman counter parts are Jupiter and Minerva. Greek and Roman mythology are pretty simular but Greek mythology came first and the Romans just adopted it.

  2. I don't remember if we talked about Nike in class to an extent. She is the goddess of Victory. She and her sisters, Kratos (Strength), Bia (Force), and Zelus (Zeal), are titans that joined Zeus to help him win when he rose up against his father Cronus. It was a good move by the nike shoe company since the name IS Victory incarnate. There is a statue of Nike in the Lourve that is said (no guarentee) from being the one on the thumb of the Zeus statues that is one of the seventh wonders of the world.
